When I entered Scripps College in Claremont, California, I declared myself a Psychology Major. That lasted about a year. I went to the head of the Art Department and told him that I wished to change my major to Art. I can still hear his response: "Come on in Miss Haselton. The water is fine." And for me it was. I graduated from Scripps with honors in Art and Architecture.
Shortly after graduation I met and married my husband and subsequently we had three children. For many years my drive to create was put on the back burner as I put my husband through Law School and raised our children.
For years I tried different mediums and could not find one that fit. When I first saw Art Quilts such joy and excitement filled my heart that I couldn't wait to begin to learn and experiment. I focused on mastering painting with fabric. During the last several years this art form has been and is my focus and passion. Many nights I am unable to sleep because of the challenging ideas that swirl through my head. Of late I have been experimenting with dyeing my own fabric which is great fun.
I am the happiest that I have ever been in my life for which I am very grateful. I am eager to share my fabric paintings with you.
